Oude Kerk Location: How to Get There by Subway and Bus

Driving to the Oude Kerk is possible, but parking in central Amsterdam can be limited and expensive. The nearest paid parking facilities include Q-Park Nieuwendijk and Parking Centrum Oosterdok, both within a 10–15 minute walk from the church. It’s recommended to use a park-and-ride (P+R) location on the city’s outskirts and continue to the city center by public transport for a more convenient and affordable option.

The nearest metro station is Nieuwmarkt, located about a 5-minute walk from the Oude Kerk. Lines 51, 53, and 54 all stop here. Alternatively, you can get off at Amsterdam Centraal Station, which is just one stop away and a short walk from the church.

Several bus lines stop near Dam Square, which is just a five-minute walk from the Oude Kerk. Buses 18, 21, and 22 connect to Central Station and nearby neighborhoods, making it easy to reach the church from different parts of the city.

If you’re arriving in Amsterdam by train, disembark at Amsterdam Centraal Station. From there, it’s only a 10-minute walk to the Oude Kerk. Simply follow the signs toward the city center or Dam Square, and you’ll find the church nestled in the Red Light District.

Cycling is one of the best ways to explore Amsterdam. You can ride directly to the Oude Kerk and park your bike at designated racks near Oudekerksplein. Be sure to use a secure lock, as the area can get busy during peak hours.

The Oude Kerk is within easy walking distance from many major attractions, including Dam Square and the Royal Palace. From Amsterdam Centraal Station, follow Damrak Street toward Dam Square, turn right into Oudezijds Voorburgwal, and you’ll reach the church in about 10 minutes. Walking is an excellent way to enjoy the city’s charming canals and historic streets along the way.
